Webinar 9th December 2025: George Fourlas
A different way of listening to the Person who Stutters: Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SBT) with Stuttering
Webinar Description: Solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) is an approach to psychotherapy based on solution-building rather than problem-solving. It explores current resources and future hopes rather than present problems and past causes. SFBT has been widely used in the treatment of stuttering over the past years. Shifting focus from problems to solution involves thinking about the process of change differently. Adopting a not-knowing stance, acknowledging clients as the experts and listening to them in an alternative way, a new world reveals to the client and the therapist. The aim of this webinar is to discuss key theoretical and clinical principles of the SFBT approach, to explore its use with persons who stutter and to present clinical examples of its use.
