Neurogenic stuttering: Recent findings on prevalence, neural correlates and associated (non)speech characteristics, diagnosis and treatment.

Abstract: Our knowledge of neurogenic stuttering has changed significantly in the last decade. This webinar will focus on the recent findings on prevalence, neural correlates and associated speech and non-speech characteristics of neurogenic stuttering. We will discuss the different etiologies that can lead to acquired neurogenic stuttering, and our current knowledge of diagnosis and treatment options. Research and theory will be supplemented with videos of cases. 

Speaker: Catherine Theys is a senior lecturer in the School of Psychology, Speech & Hearing and programme director of the Master in Speech and Language Pathology at the University of Canterbury (New Zealand). Her research focuses on the behavioural and neural characteristics of stuttering and acquired neurogenic communication disorders.
